Pacific plant-based oils, harvested with reverence, are woven seamlessly with rare Middle Eastern essences, including precious oud and resinous absolutes. The result - a range of olfactory expressions, a convergence of land, sea, and desert. Crafted in collaboration with master oil perfumers of the United Arab Emirates, each composition unites the sacred botanicals of the Pacific Islands with the deep, time-honoured traditions of the Middle East. “Mausa, is a strong, fragrant scent, potent of the Tongan “kakala” fragrant flower. A single trail of pungent aromatic “kakala” scent sparks curiosity to trace the source of origin. Women stringing kahoa of kakala hingoa, women making traditional dancing costumes, women making pā kakala for a chiefly person who has passed away, or welcoming chiefly people to a village function by decorating the venue with fragrant “kakala”. “I found that women made an effort everywhere I went with Maāimoa Felotei to present kakala, and the Mausa of those “kakala” filled our presence, while we shared stories of that particular village or Island".
